Romans 8:12-14

We have been taught that once we accept Christ, the old is gone & the new has come. (2nd Corinthians 5:17) My NLT says, “the old LIFE is gone, a new LIFE has begun.” KJV says, “old things”. NIV just says, “the old is gone”. None of this says our old NATURE is gone. So, based on today's verses, I don’t think our old sinful nature actually leaves.

The Holy Spirit comes into our hearts when we confess Jesus as LORD and believe He died & rose again. Our IF/THEN promise today is if we live by our old nature’s sinful urges, we will die. But if we live by the Spirit, putting those sinful deeds to death, we will live. When we are led by the Spirit of God, we are children of God.

Ok now, don’t go getting religious on me. This isn’t about a set of rules and trying to be perfect. It’s simply more of Him and less of us. We will NEVER be perfect. NEVER! So stop trying to be. God loves you and He just wants a relationship to lead & guide your day to day life. Don't allow your old nature to run the show. There is nothing Christ like about our sinful nature.

Get to know Holy Spirit. Talk to Him and let Him lead. He is the 3rd person of the Trinity and He is in you as a believer.
