John 8:31-32

If you back up for context and read verses 21-30, you see that Jesus is talking to a crowd of unbelievers. He told them that He was going to the cross, that He does & says what His Father taught Him, & that He always does what pleases God. Verse 30 says, “The many who heard Him say these things believed in Him.”

Have you ever heard the definition of disciple? A disciple is, “A person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another, follower.” So Jesus is clearly defining the new believers role in life now that they believed Him.

Living Jesus’ ways and remaining faithful to His teachings, means we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. What do you think He means that we get free from? I think He means sin, death, and a life apart from Him. As I have said before, life with Jesus DOES NOT mean you won’t have trouble. It DOES mean you are free from a lot of stuff and have a loving Father walking with you through the hard times. I would rather have Him than try it alone! Who’s with me?
