Psalm 86:1-4
Today's verses were written by David. It is a prayer that he wrote to God. There are a few things I like about David. He was real and he wasn’t afraid to show emotion. We know that until Saul died, David had times that he was literally running for his life. This prayer might have been one of those times.
We can take these verses and pray them to God for ourselves. Our hard seasons should not draw us away from God, but it should draw us towards Him.
If you’ve heard me discuss this before, I apologize in advance. David asks God for happiness in verse 4. Happiness is based on circumstances. It does come and go because it’s not rooted & grounded in Christ like JOY is. We talked about joy yesterday. We can have joy even when life situations are rough. So, really, we are better off tapping into the joy inside of us, instead of happiness that can leave us quickly. What are your thoughts on happiness verses joy?
