Psalm 56:1-4
Our verses today are written by David. As a young shepherd boy, he killed Goliath. He did not turn into a great warrior over night but he did become one and King of Israel as well. Even though he was tough, he wrote poems and songs. The directions above chapter 56 in my Bible says this was written about a time the Philistines seized him in Gath. (If you will remember, Goliath was a Philistine, so they could have just killed David and not captured him.)
David went through more than most humans. The only way he made it was because of his relationship with God. One thing we could apply this to in our lives would be people talking about us. Some work places have gossipers. Some people get attacked on social media. While neither of those would lead to someone murdering us, there have been suicides because of it. We should follow David's example and RUN to God when something happens.
When we are afraid of what someone is doing to us, like talking behind our backs or being mean, we need to trust God with it. Knowing your value in Christ is FIRST! Don’t listen to lies because God, in His Word, says who we are. Praise God for Him getting you through, Him fighting your battle, and Him taking away your fears.
Several times this month our verses have asked the question, “What can mere mortals do to me?” Basically, what can human beings do to me? We realize they can do a lot! BUT GOD! He will protect us and sometimes He does even when we don't realize it. ALSO, if someone kills a Christ follower, the Christ follower immediately goes to Heaven. That’s a win for them, it’s not a bad thing.
Do you know for sure if you died today that you’d go to Heaven? I hope so! If not, pray and tell God you want Him to be the LORD of your life to take away any fear of death. He will do it!
