Psalm 138:3

“As soon as I pray, You answer me; You encourage me by giving me strength.”

Today is “Pick Your Own Verse” day. I wrote this one in my journal from my daily reading this week. I’ve been underlining a lot in my Bible, but to me, this one was worth recording.

After my divorce (over 10 years ago), the enemy tried to whisper a lie to me. He said, “All those prayers you prayed for him and your marriage didn’t work. God didn’t hear you.” Talk about a slap in the face! BOY! That hit me.

THEN, God gently reminded me, He HAD heard every prayer. The reason nothing changed is because my ex husband wouldn't yield his life to God. One thing God can’t do is over-ride our free will. He can knock on our hearts, do miracles, and place amazing people in our lives, but until we fully believe and surrender, He’s stuck. He’s a gentleman. He will never force us to do anything.

This verse isn’t the only one in the Bible that says God answers our prayer, but this one jumped out at me because it says not only does He answer, but He encourages us by giving us strength. Strength to hold on and wait for the answer and His timing. If He did it for me, He will do it for you! I promise! How amazing is our God? He is so good to us!
