Romans 5:3-5

Let’s start the month off by defining our list name. First perseverance which is, “steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.”

Endurance is defined as “1 the fact or power of enduring or bearing pain, hardships, etc. 2 the ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions; stamina”.

In our verses today, Paul is speaking to the church in Rome about building endurance through problems and trials. Paul says that it helps us strengthen our character & our confident hope of salvation. So how can something bad do that? I’m glad you asked! If you are getting negative things happening, it could mean the enemy sees you living for God, so he’s bothering you. However, it could mean you are making bad decisions and need to let Holy Spirit guide you. Both of these can help strengthen your character and hope in salvation. (The enemy doesn’t bother non-Christians.) Remember, Jesus tells us in John 10:10 what the enemy is doing.

Our Hope in salvation is proven because God loves us and He proves that by giving us the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit does some amazing things in our lives!! He has gifts & grows fruitful characteristics. He teaches us and leads us in every day life decisions. I am so thankful we have Jesus, God, & Holy Spirit in our lives. They help us get through the hard times!
