Proverbs 3:3-4

Most people memorize and quote verses 5 & 6 of Proverbs 3, but I wanted us to see other verses in these chapters. My NLT Bible version of verse 3 says, “Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!” Different Bible translations have different words.

KJV mercy & truth

NIV love & faithfulness

CJB grace & truth

MSG love & loyalty

All of these are GREAT things to live by. I have a necklace with “faithfulness” on it that my old church gave out at the women’s conference based on this verse. That’s one way to tie them around your neck, right?

Writing them deep in our heart is important. These characteristics are about how we treat others. When we treat others with loyalty, kindness, mercy, truth, love, faithfulness, and grace, THEN we find favor with God and people. That’s a win win IF/THEN promise!

The Christian life just can’t be lived if its all self focused. Jesus was our ultimate example. He gave up Heaven to come here in a fallen sinful world into a mere human body. He was not thinking of Himself. He had the world in mind.

If you struggle with one of these characteristics, ask God for help! He will gladly help you because He wants to grow things in our lives & it’s a wise way to live.
