Proverbs 17: 9 and 13
My NLT Bible has the first part of verse 9 as, “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven”. Prosper is defined as, “to be successful or fortunate, thrice, flourish.” When we forgive people for what they did to us, love grows. It does NOT mean between the two people, necessarily. You can forgive someone and never speak to them again. But if you hold a grudge, which turns to hate, which turns to bitterness, you are harming yourself. It’s hard for people to want to be in a relationship with you because you are angry, even though they are not the person you are struggling with. That’s why it separates close friends. People can see anger and bitterness. It’s not a hidden thing.
I seriously doubt any of us would do something evil. It’s just not in us to. People who repay good with evil have a harder time of changing. Of course, God can do anything. So if someone who’s been doing evil gives their heart & life to God, then evil WILL leave. As a Christian, we do our best to live life like God wants us to and He will turn it around for our good.
