Proverbs 13:9-11
Today’s wisdom has to do with just living God’s ways. Life with God does not give us a “get out of trouble” card. We have all been through a lot and experienced a lot of bad, sad, and negative things. What it does give us is a Comforter, Healer, Provider, & Father (just to name a few) who will walk with us through everything! (Oh, and light & joy like the verse says.)
Pride is a beast and shouldn’t be allowed in our life. Pride is “a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing conduct, etc.” Being prideful is NOT good. It raises you above everyone and its the TOTAL opposite of how Jesus told us to live. We can't have it all figured out. So we shouldn’t be prideful & think we do. Asking for advice and asking someone either older or more experienced is a very wise thing to do.
When I think of wealth, sometimes I think of really rich people. But honestly, wealth is our income, no matter how we make it. Solomon is advising against get-rich-quick schemes. Those never last. But hard work & building up a business or savings account is the smart thing to do. God knows our human nature & how we do things sometimes. He wants the best for us. Therefore, when we leave OUR way, or the WORLD’S way, and live life HIS way, our lives are better for it. To quote Forrest Frank, “Oh, Lord, Your way’s better!”
