Matthew 22:37-39

I think in our modern very connected world we are struggling when it comes to God. First of all, people have a hard time loving someone they can’t physically see. We can love an “influencer” or someone popular on social media though. Because we can “see” them. Not seeing is faith. Jesus talked about that a good bit.

Second, we simply DO NOT love ourselves OR we love ourselves TOO MUCH. My Pastor from my hometown did a message this past Sunday about renewing your mind. He basically said we shouldn't struggle with self esteem because we should know who we are based on what God’s Word says about us. That's so true!

Loving God with all my heart, to me, means I must give Him my heart & trust Him with it. Our soul is our emotions & personality. He created us, so it should be easy to love who we are and who He is. Whether we are sad or happy, that doesn’t change who we are or who He is.

Our mind, well that’s the battlefield. We have our own thoughts, God’s thoughts, & the enemy's lies. Just like Scripture says, we must take our thoughts captive & fight certain ones with Scripture. That is our weapon! God’s Word! Loving Him with our minds means thinking on good things of Him and loving ourselves like He does.

In my opinion, I love well. The people in my life genuinely know I love them. It's myself I’ve struggled with. We can’t love others correctly if we don’t love ourselves! We have to break that stronghold in order to love others as much as we love ourselves.
