1 John 4:7-8

The entire book of 1 John is a message to God’s children. Starting at our chapter & book, my Bible has the title, “Loving One Another”. I’d like to point out 2 things here:

  1. We are called to love everyone. (Or as I say sometimes, EVRbody.) That does not mean we let people abuse us or we agree with everything they do. We love them. Period. It DOES mean we treat people the way we want to be treated.

  2. If God is love, why do we think He can STOP loving us? He can’t. Nothing we can do will make Him love us more. Just like nothing we do can make Him love us any less. Because of this, we can let God love through us to others.

I went to a resource book I have and was reminded of a Greek word I learned years ago. It’s fitting for friendship. The word is koinonia. Pronounced (Koy oh NEE ah). It means fellowship. We have fellowship with God & each other. That's what He wants for us all.

Some days, some people are easier to love than others. However, we should do our best to love everyone we are around so they can see Jesus in us.
