Matthew 17:19-20
Let me give us some context since I left out part of the story. Jesus had taken Peter, James, & John on a high mountain alone. While there, Jesus transfigured so that He was as bright as the sun. Moses & Elijah appeared and began talking to Jesus. Starting at verse 14, is when they came down from the mountain.
When they came down from the mountain, a large crowd had gathered. A man brought his son to Jesus who had a demonic thing throwing him into fires & water. (Trying to kill him.) The dad had taken him to the disciples, but they weren’t able to cast it out. In verse 18, Jesus rebuked the demon & it left. Then they asked the question in verse 19.
Now hear me on 3 things, ok? First, every situation is different. This particular one needed faith to send the demon away. Second, everything we pray for has an “in between” time. Our Pastor just talked talked about this at our prayer service yesterday. You CAN have HUGE faith, and that mountain not move the very second you tell it to. Jesus did not say “immediately the mountain will move”. When we have the faith, even as small as a mustard seed, it WILL move, in God’s time, but it WILL move. He promised us that!
Third, you will more than likely be attacked by the enemy after having a “mountain top” experience. This is why people who attend conferences, like the 2 our church just had, need continued prayer AFTER they get home.
Don’t get discouraged during your in between time! God heard your prayer! He is listening & always working, even when we can't see it.
