Mark 1:40-42

Several things come to my mind about today's Scriptures. The verse before, it mentions Jesus traveling throughout Galilee. So it’s safe to think that’s where He was when this man approached Him. Leprosy was some sort of topical skin condition. It was something they were scared of, so if a person had it, they were sent away and pretty much ignored. People were forbidden to touch leppers. (Once again, probably out of fear.)

This man’s life had been isolated for who knows how long. The Government issued th a certain colored cloak so people could be charitable and throw money at them. Probably besides the health issues, the social isolation from family & friends had to hurt them as well.

I’m not sure why the lepper asked if Jesus was willing to heal him, but I’m glad he did. I believe Jesus's answer to that question always is and always will be, “I AM willing.” God does not punish us with sickness. He wants us well.

Notice too, that Jesus broke the rule and touched him. That’s our Savior! No man made rule will stop Him from doing what He wants to. There is no telling how long it has been since the man felt a touch from another person. Jesus is personal want wants to help us feel better both emotionally and physically.
