Luke 13:10-13

Once again in today's verses we see where an “evil spirit” had someone sick. This woman had been bent over for 18 years! That is an awful long time time to not be able to stand up straight.

Jesus did not rebuke the evil spirit, He told the woman that she was healed of her sickness and He touched her. You can imagine her joy and the unbelief from everyone who knew her. Some people were not aware of the evil spirits and everything they could do. (Some of us aren’t either.)

Now, hear me on this. We do not need to get caught up and/or too concerned about said “evil spirits”. We do need to know that they are real. They cause problems. But they are under Christ’s authority and they have to go when He says go.

Of course, the synagogue leaders did not like Jesus healing people on the Sabbath. Which is so silly to me. Touching someone and telling them they are healed from their sickness does not constitute “work”. Work is plowing a field, harvesting grain, or picking grapes. I don’t think I will ever understand why they got upset because He was doing good.
