Lamentations 3:22-23

Mercy is defined as “compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one’s power, compassion, pity, or benevolence.” In my own terms, mercy is when you don’t get what you deserved because someone chose to show you mercy.

Once again, I realize that WE did not disobey God in the Garden of Eden. However, that caused us to become sinners who are born with a sinful nature. That separates us from God until WE decide to allow Him to be our LORD & Savior. Because God wants a relationship with us, He showed mercy by sending Jesus to die on the cross as a sacrifice once and for all.

Lamentations was written by Jeremiah who was nicknamed “The Weeping Prophet”. He endured a lot as a prophet for Israel. All of our Old Testament verses this month were written by people who didn’t have an opportunity to have Jesus in their lives, as He had not come to earth yet. Keep in mind, all of them are experiencing God’s mercy in such a different way than us.

Thankfully, even for us today, God’s mercies ARE new every morning. His mercy never stops. And His love never ends! Now that's something to get excited about!
