Joshua 1:1-4
Today’s verses were a new beginning again for Israel as Moses, who had lead them for 40 years had died. God decided to appoint Joshua as leader. Joshua, if you remember, was one of the 12 spies who Moses sent into the Promised Land to scope it out. Out of those 12, only 2 thought they could defeat the people, Joshua was one of those 2.
We know from reading all of the things that happened before this time they they needed a good leader to guide them through. They were going to war to take over these places. As bad as it sounds, we have to remember that God set aside that land, but people took it over while the Israelites were in Egypt. (Our free will is one thing God can’t over rule. So those people were on God’s land appointed for God's people.) In verse 4, He tells the boundaries. This was a huge moment in history.
