Exodus 20:11-17
Our body, soul, and spirit need rest and down time each week. God rested in Genesis after making everything. Not because He was tired but because He wanted to give us an example.
Verse 12 is a commandment with a promise. I realize not everyone knows their parents or has a close relationship with them (if they are still living), but you can honor them anyway.
You wouldn't think God would have to tell them to not murder, cheat on your spouse, or steal - but He did. This was His way of creating laws to live by.
The last 2 are in regards to your neighbor, but it's really about our own hearts. We shouldn't lie about people and we should be content with what we have.
I love how God thought of everything when He made these commandments. They weren’t to control, but to guide. Especially because they had no guidance for so long. We are worldly and allow the world and our flesh to lead us. When we give our hearts and lives to Jesus, that’s when things change.
