Job 42:9-11

These verses pick up where we stopped writing yesterday. Jon's friends did what God told them to do. That was a very wise decision! God heard Job’s prayers for his friends and He answered.

After Job prayed for his friends, God restored Job’s fortunes to him. Not only that, but He gave him TWICE AS MUCH! Let’s think about this for a minute, God blessed him with twice as much as he’d lost and He did it quickly. This part did not take years. It was instant. (And through gifts to him from others. Verse 11) That’s the God we serve! He can instantly do things. Even things in the natural that would take years.

Why do you think God restored Job’s fortunes AFTER he prayed for his friends? I think it was about forgiveness. Maybe? God wanted to be sure that Job wasn’t holding a grudge against them because that would have turned into bitterness which would have been bad!
