Isaiah 58:7-9

Chapter 58 of Isaiah is titled, “True and False Worship”. What does that have to do with healing? Glad you asked! Some people don’t have a personal relationship with God. They only go to Him when they are struggling and ask Him to bail them out. Or, in this lists case, heal them.

God is not a genie waiting to grant 3 wishes. He also has times, like these verses, where there is what I call IF/Then promises. Verse 8 is the IF part. (Share your food with the hungry, give shelter to the homeless, give clothes to those in need, & not hide from needy family.) THEN, God will heal your wounds quickly, protect you, and quickly answer when you pray.

This is not a legalistic thing. Hear me out. Not everyone CAN personally do those things. But if you are a part of a church that does, and you tithe, then you contributed and you are a part of it. If you donate to ministries or other non- profits that help, you are a part of that. God knows our hearts and how we serve and give.

I would also like to mention, we should do things when the Holy Spirit prompts us. If you see a homeless person and feel led to help, by all means, go ahead. You know what the Word says. This is also NOT a performance issue. Don’t feel like you have to “perform” in order for God to heal you. That’s a lie from the enemy and he would love to cause you to doubt our God and His promises.
