Isaiah 26:3-4

Verse 3 is what I call one of God’s IF/THEN promises. IF we do what He says, THEN He will do whatever the promise is. In this one, God will keep a person in perfect peace when they trust Him AND keep their thoughts fixed on Him. I can totally see how this works, can you?

Keeping our thoughts fixed on God can happen one of 2 ways. We have already discussed turning worries into prayers. That stops the anxious thoughts and gives it to God. Something else we can do is take Scripture and say it out loud to our worry. Let me give you a couple of examples:

THOUGHT: “What if I get sick?” Scripture: Matthew 8:17 says, “This fulfilled the Word of the LORD through the prophet Isaiah who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

THOUGHT: “What if my prodigal child never comes back to God?” Scripture: Proverbs 22:6 NIV says, “Start children off on the Way they should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (In Jill terms, if you raised them in the Lord, they WILL be back!)

Scripture is God’s Word, so it's fixing your anxious thoughts on Him. If you have any examples, I’d love to hear them!

We can trust God. Period. For any and all things. When we trust Him, our anxious thoughts won’t keep us up at night. God does not want us living like that. Trust God’s IF/THEN promise! He is not a man that He would lie or break any promises!!
