Habakkuk 3:17-19

Chapter 3 of Habakkuk is titled, “Habakkuk’s Prayer”. He was a little known prophet in the Old Testament. Even though the entire book is only 3 chapters, this conversation between Him and God had some really good verses to learn from.

Today’s verses are a positive spin on how to handle life if things are going bad. Verse 17 is very agricultural minded. Most of us don’t have crops or livestock. But we do have parents, siblings, children, spouses, friends, & other family. We do live somewhere and work in places with people. And, in a nutshell, we can say life is just rough sometimes, BUT we can still rejoice in the LORD! It’s in the hard times that we need to tap into the JOY inside of us! We can rejoice in our salvation if nothing else!

Verse 19 is special to me for 3 reasons:

  1. It shows us that not only is God with us during hard times, but He is our strength!

  2. He not only helps us in trouble, but He takes us higher & better than we were!

  3. It is our church's life verse.

HOLD ON today my friends! God is with you. He loves you. He is ready to help you and get you through this with joy.

CHALLENGE: I want to challenge you to do something. And if you choose to accept this challenge, I dare you to get others to join you! EVERYDAY write down 3 things you are grateful for. Just start off small. You woke up today. You had coffee. You have people who love you. Whatever you can think of. I have been doing this a long time now and I text a bunch of people every morning. It just helps shift your focus off of the negative…. and will hopefully help you tap into your joy!
