Genesis 26:23-25

Isaac was Abraham’s only son with his wife Sarah. He was the promised child. God told them they would have a son, even though they were old. Abraham did have more children, but God had chosen his & Sarah’s DNA to bring about a country.

A famine struck the land Isaac was in so he moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, the king of the Philistines lived. God told Isaac to stay there. Starting at verse 12 of chapter 26 in my Bible it has the title, “Conflict over water rights”. Isaac was going up against Abimelech for water for his crops. Isaac was ordered to move. After the place of Gerar, our verses start.

At this point, Isaac was a very wealthy man. He had servants and livestock. I believe he already had Jacob and Esau too. (They are mentioned in chapter 25.) With all that he had, I’m sure it was easy to be afraid because anyone could attack and over take them. Someone could kill Isaac and just take his family and belongings as their own. BUT GOD!! God told him to not be afraid. God protected Abraham and kept His promises, so He would do the same for Isaac.

Sometimes we have to look back and see God’s goodness & promises filfilled so that we don’t become afraid. If He said He would do something, He does!
