Exodus 3:9-12
God met Moses at a burning bush. The fire was all around and on it, but it was not burning up. This was on Mount Sinai, which we know becomes very significant later. God knew how to get Moses’s attention and He spoke to him audibly. Their conversation is actually recorded starting in verse 4 and continues until Chapter 4, verse 17. Moses gave excuses and reasons why this exodus possibly wouldn't work. God gave him every reason it would. (And mostly because He would be with him.)
When you keep reading Chapter 3, God gives His name and instructions on how He wants things done. Moses was 80 and Aaron (his brother) was 83 when they went to Pharaoh demanding he let Israel go. Israel had been in Egypt for 430 years. They had grown from a family of 70, to approximately 600,000 mean. (Not including women & children.) This mass exodus was probably 1 million people.
God did so many signs & wonders to convince Pharaoh to let His people go, but it took the Passover to really convince him. God is not just someone who goes around killing people. He set up a new thing with Israel that would represent Jesus eventually & proved His power to both them and Pharaoh. God made promises to Abraham that He was going to keep for sure.
