Exodus 34:6-7

This time the LORD is passing Moses is after He gave him the 10 Commandments a second time. The LORD came down in a cloud and stood there with him and then our verses happened.

If someone wanted to know about you, what would you tell them? I think we usually only talk a little about our actual character. The rest is what we do or what we are good at. (For example: I’m a Christian, wife, mom, grandmother. I do office work & serve at church.) That really does not tell you anything about me, does it? While explaining who He is, God uses mercy as a character trait.

Yesterday at church, our Founding Pastor defined mercy as, “still letting you off the hook for things you’ve done.” I’ve never heard it that way before. It’s simple, but true. God is so good to us, isn’t He?

God is: Compassionate

Merciful

Slow to anger

Filled with unfailing love &

Faithfulness

Forgiving of iniquity, rebellion, sin

Let's briefly discuss the last 2 sentences about not excusing the guilty & laying the sins of the parents on their children. This was before Jesus and once He came to earth, that was all forgiven. It is the New New Covenant with Christ. God is no longer holding sins against anyone.
