Exodus 23:20-22

Starting at verse 20 in my Bible, there is a title of, “A Promise of the LORD’S Presence”. I really like this promise and I think it’s still for us today. Exodus was after the Israelites left Egypt to go to their own land. I’m sure after so many years of slavery, they were tired. They had not fought in a war either. But the land God was giving them had become inhabited by others. Therefore, they were going to have to fight at some point. (Side thought, I believe God allowed it to be inhabited so they would get it established for them. Like getting the ground ready for crops & building homes.)

BUT GOD! In His wisdom & love for them, sent an Angel to go BEFORE them. Don't miss that important word. This Angel was going to protect them and as long as they did not rebel against him, then God promised to be an enemy to their enemies and oppose anyone who opposed them.

Did you know we have this same privilege? In Matthew 18:10 Jesus said the children's angels were always in God’s presence. Deuteronomy 32:8 says, “When the Most High assigned lands to the nations, when He divided the human race, He established the boundaries of the peoples according to the number in His Heavenly Court.”

Psalm 34:7 says, “For the Angel of the LORD is a guard, he surrounds & defends all who fear him.” And of course, my favorite Psalm 91 says He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. We can trust God in this and believe that when we need it, just like the Israelites, God will take care of us!
