Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Don’t let the enemy steal from you with these verses!! He loves making single, non-married people feel bad about these. This is about relationships & friendships in general. NOT marriage.
In my opinion, someone is only as alone as they make themselves. Let me explain- everyone has the opportunity to be in a relationship with someone. We almost all have parents, maybe siblings, cousins, Aunts, Uncles, cousins co-workers… there is someone in your life that can and will be there for you.
In order to get a person like that in our lives, we have to be vulnerable and open to letting them in. I know that’s hard for some people, but it’s necessary. We were created for community, though. Which is why we feel lonely when we don’t have those close relationships.
We need a cheerleader in our lives. Besides the Holy Spirit nudging us to do whatever He has called us to, we all need one or two people who know us well enough to believe in us.
I moved away from the only place I’d ever lived a little over a year ago. I have met some nice people and I have a husband now, but I still long for a close friend face to face. I usually talk and pray with my best friend back home 5 days a week, so that helps me a lot. I’m still praying for God to bring me who He has planned for me to be really close friends with. And you know what? I believe He will because that’s how He made us! That’s why Solomon has given us this advice. We need each other.
