Proverbs 27:17
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” NLT
Iron is a very strong metal. It is mostly found in the earth then formed by fire to create things. I used to always think this verse meant keeping your friend accountable in life. That’s not the case!
Iron, when rubbed together with more iron creates friction, heat, sparks, and ultimately fire. We need to keep on helping our friends stay on fire for Jesus!! We should not just use this verse to try to tell them what to do. But we should use it to keep their hearts on fire for Jesus! If a friend’s faith is low, it can be ignited by a friend. What a difference that makes to know the meaning!
