Deuteronomy 31:7-8

Today's verses come immediately after yesterday's. Moses was talking to the entire group of people yesterday, today is just to Joshua. I can only imagine what Joshua might have been feeling. Forty years before that day, he had reported that they could take the people in the city. Now, he’s forty years older and a lot of people have died. (Moses is about to die, as he is not going in to the Promised Land.)

The task before Joshua was not a small thing. He was about to lead them into war, and then divide the land by tribes. Even though some had died, there were probably still about a million people following him. I bet it would have been EASY to be afraid and discouraged.

Moses knew the truth though. Moses knew when God calls you, He equips you. Moses knew God would not leave because He had never left him. He was speaking from experience. We can hear these words and be encouraged as well. God knows the plan He has for you. He will PERSONALLY go ahead of us, never leaving nor forsaking us. We have no reason to be afraid with that truth in our hearts.

Can you think back to a time where you should have been afraid, but you weren’t? I bet God encouraged you with His Word, didn’t He? I’d love to hear about it!
