Deuteronomy 31:5-6

Chapter 31 in Deuteronomy is a long time after yesterday's verses. Moses and the Israelites roamed the wilderness for 40 years. That is such a long time!! Moses was still alive in this chapter but he is getting ready to hand the leadership off to Joshua. Verses 4-6 are Moses repeating things God said to him. That’s why they are in quotes.

God had that land picked out way back in Abraham's time. He planned for it to become Israel. But as we have seen, they ended up trapped in Egypt for 430 years. Taking this million people in to land that was built, growing food, and lived on was a lot!

I think I might have been afraid too. I mean, that’s a lot of people and land. God wanted them to know that He was there. Verse 6 is true for us today too. We can be strong and courageous and not panic. God goes ahead of us. He will neither fail NOR abandon us!
