Daniel 9:18

Chapter 9 of Daniel starts off with a prayer for his people. Our verse is just one part of that prayer. Israel was exiled from their land in Babylon. Daniel was reading the book of Jeremiah while captive in Babylon and came to the part of Jerusalem being desolate for 70 years. (Jeremiah 29:10) Daniel fasted, prayed, put on burlap, and sprinkled himself with ashes. (All signs that someone is in mourning.)

Daniel asked for mercy and God answered by sending the Archangel Gabriel to speak to David. Gabriel was also helping him determine what his vision had been about. God heard Daniel’s prayer and He hears ours too. He might not answer right away. He might not even answer like WE want Him to. Daniel knew they didn’t “deserve” God to answer, but he plead God’s mercy and got an answer. Thankfully, we can do the same thing! God is still full of mercy!
