2nd Samuel 2:1

I apologize for starting our verses off this way, but I try hard to keep us from writing too many verses each day. The “this” in our verses is Saul’s death. David had been at war too with the Amalekites. A man came to tell David all that happened and gave him Saul’s crown & arm band.

David composed a funeral song for Saul and Jonathan. He really was sad that they died. He and Jonathan were best friends. What I think is really awesome is that David did not want to make another move until he asked God what to do. That's what our verses are. His conversation with God on where to live.

Now, let's put this into perspective and for our resilience topic. David was approximately between the ages of 10-15 when Samuel anointed him as king. Most likely, he was a teenager when he killed Goliath, so maybe between 16-19. We know he was not 20 yet because he was not serving in Saul’s army. SO, David was 30 years old when he began reigning over ALL of Israel. (2 Samuel 5:4) That means, he could have been on the run fr Saul for over 10 years.

God was with David in everything though. When he was following God’s promptings and instructions everything went well.
