1st Samuel 19:9-10

I am not going to lie, it bothers me to write “the tormenting spirit from the LORD”. God is good. Period. He cannot do bad. In the Old Testament, God had to handle things differently. When Jesus came, if you read everything about Him in the New Testament, He never did anything to anyone. Jesus was/is God. He healed everyone who asked and some who didn't. Jesus never hurt anyone. In Saul’s case, God was not trying to hurt him either. He was being just by trying to get him to step down as king because He had already told him to. (1st Samuel 15:23)

Now, back to David. This was just ONE attempt on his life from Saul but it was the closest. I don’t think God would have allowed Saul to kill David but this was the beginning of years of running for David. Literally running for his life.
