2nd Corinthians 3:16-18
I’m sorry for starting off today with a “but”. I try to let us write enough to get the idea of the topic and discuss it on Group Me. I never want to make is write 5 or 6 verses. That's a lot!
Starting at verse 7, my Bible has the title, “The Glory of the New Covenant “. Paul is writing this letter to the church in Corinth. He was talking about the law, the 10 Commandments, and how those are good but this new way is better.
There is a “veil” that blocks people from the truth. Paul says, “even today when we read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.” (2nd Corinthians 3:15) Moses wrote the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible. He also wrote some Psalms.
If Paul could have added one thing in our verses, I think it could be, after the LORD takes the veil away, He gives His Spirit. That’s what he means, but it’s not clear in my opinion. (Or maybe it’s just the version of the Bible I read.) The Holy Spirit brings freedom!! When the 10 Commandments are our moral compass, living by the Spirit is our goal!
We see and reflect God’s glory as we grow to know Him and be like Him.
