James 1:22-25

Our writer today is James, Jesus's brother. His greeting said he was writing to the 12 Tribes of Jewish believers scattered abroad. But I don’t know who all that means exactly.

Just before our verses, James is warning believers to be more like God- quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce righteousness, he said. (Studies show that it lowers your IQ as well.) James also said to get rid of the filth and evil in our lives by accepting God’s Word.

God’s Word sets us free because of the things we learn and apply to our lives. Like, we understand forgiveness of our sins and let go of shame and condemnation. That's how we get blessed for doing what God’s Word says. I see the Bible as a life guide. There is almost always a verse or verses that can be applied to any situation.
