1st Peter 2:15-17
Peter is one of the people that I can’t wait to meet when I get to Heaven. He is such an interesting man. I enjoy how the TV show, The Chosen, has created his character as well. In a lot of ways, they nailed it!
Peter's letters were written to Christian's in countries far away from Israel. I think he was encouraging them and helping them learn new things about their faith.
Our verses are under the title, “Respecting People In Authority”. Peter states to submit to human authority. (The King and/or the officials he has appointed.) This ties in together with our freedom in Christ. We should set an example of honor for people in authority because then they will see Jesus through us.
Now, the big thing I want to discuss is this- we should not use our freedom as an excuse to do evil, as Peter says. If we are fully surrendered to Christ and living by His ways, we should not want to do evil anyway. It’s just not about securing a home in Heaven. It's about living Jesus's ways and pointing others to Him. We are free from sin and death, but we shouldn't think we have a right to do anything evil. We don’t!
