Romans 8:20-21

One thing I love about the Bible is that it is alive and active. I see Scriptures I have read before, but this time, they jump out at me and I receive a revelation of their meaning. That happened with today’s verses.

Starting at verse 18, my Bible has the title, “The Future Glory”. I believe Paul is describing the future of the new earth happening later. The reason I added it in our verses is because, while creation doesn’t “sin”, it has been subjected to the things God said once Adam & Eve sinned. (Genesis 3:17-19)

The Garden of Eden sounds absolutely beautiful! There was water, trees that produce fruit, and flowers of all types. God had a plan and while plants do have life cycles, He might have planned to just keep them alive and flourishing. Because He had to send Adam & Eve out of the garden because of their sin, He had to let creation suffer too.

One day though, even the plants, trees, and animals will have freedom from death and decay. God has planned a new Heaven and new earth. He allowed John to see it and record it in Revelation 21:1-2. That will be amazing because God plans to live among us!
