1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

Today is “pick your own” verse day, as I did not have one for this last day of the month. I should have done these verses! Paul is finishing up his first letter to the church in Thessalonica with some great advice!

Trying to pay back for things people have done to you is not good. Never pay back evil with evil. We are to let God handle those people that do wrong to us. One place in the Bible they were told to stand still God would fight for them. Jesus said to not repay someone & in fact, do more. (Matthew 5:38-42) Just after that, He teaches about loving your enemies. When we live by His ways & His example, we don’t try to pay anyone back.

Paul says 3 things in the next verses. Always be joyful, never stop praying, and be thankful. I know that seems far fetched at times, but it is NOT impossible. We have talked all month about how joy is already in us as a fruit of the Spirit. We have access to it 24/7. Our circumstances don't have to dictate our joy level! Talking to God, like you do your best friend, is praying. You can also do that 24/7/365. God is always there ready to listen and talk to you. Find SOMETHING to be thankful for every day! It helps!
