Psalm 18:1-3

This month we will be writing verses on strengthen and discussing the different aspects of it. These are three definitions of strength:

  1. The quality or state of being strong- bodily or muscular

  2. Mental power, force

  3. Moral power, firmness or courage

It's going to be interesting to explore all of these types of strength throughout the month.

David wrote our verses today and the Bible is specific of the timing. Quick history in case you don’t know. Israel’s first king was Saul. God didn’t really want them to have kings, but He decided to. Saul turned from the LORD and let power go to his head. At some point, God told Samuel to go to the house of Jesse to anoint a new King. David was the youngest and a teenager but God chose him.

For a long time, David lived in the palace and served Saul.(Saul refused to give up the throne.) Saul did not know that David was chosen by God to be the next King. David had become a mighty warrior in Saul's army and his son in law, but once Saul found out that David was anointed by God as king, he started trying to kill him.

David FULLY leaned on God to help him while he was running for his life. God was gracious and of course wanted David to be King, so He protected him. I love these verses! David literally and figuratively RUNS to the Lord for strength, protection, and safety. We can do the same! God is ALWAYS strong and ready to help us through things.
