Psalm 119:5-7
Psalm 119 is a Hebrew acrostic poem. There are 22 stanzas, one for each successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Each of the eight verses within each stanza begins with the same Hebrew letter named in its heading. This shows me the creativity of the writer. It could be David, but I'm not sure. If you’ve never read the entire chapter, I highly recommend it. I have several places that I’ve written “Write God’s Word” next to verses throughout this chapter.
What I love about our verses today are the fact that they are simple. If we DID what God told us to, we wouldn't have any shame or guilt. When we mess up, that’s on us. God has given us the way to live through the 10 Commandments and everything Jesus said in the New Testament.
When we live according to those ways, it’s thanking God by living like we should. Have you ever thought about it that way? Living against His ways is kinda like a slap in the face to God. I can’t imagine how He feels when His children walk away and choose the world over Him. The GOOD NEWS is though, we can always come back! I have several people I'm praying for to do just that!
