Proverbs 7:1-3
It’s so interesting to me that King Solomon warned his son against immoral women. He had a ton of wives and what the Bible calls “concubines”. Those women were considered lower than his wives. To be so wise, he wasn’t in regards to women.
Even though immoral women are the main warning here, we can take these words and apply them as if God is speaking to us. God’s ways of living are better than ours. Period. Those ways can be described as commands & instructions.
I like Solomon’s warning in verse 2. It reminded me of what Jesus says in Matthew 6:23, “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.” What we watch and look at matters! (Yes, even your friend’s Facebook posts that causes you to feel jealous.) Guarding our eyes is such great advice!
I have no idea how someone would “tie” things to their fingers. But you can memorize the 10 Commandments, counting them each on a finger. Writing commands & instructions on your heart is memorizing Scripture too. When we take time to do that, it's in our hearts for Holy Spirit to bring back up when we need it. He can use those verses to lead & guide us daily. For me, writing verses helps me memorize. What helps you?
