Proverbs 26:20-21
For a week or so now, someone has taken it upon themselves to post things about one of the larger churches back in my hometown. I don’t follow the page this person posts on, but I’ve been told things and been sent screenshots. Just recently, this person has posted nice positive things about the church I moved from. Which might seem nice at first, but it’s not.
Gossip, slander, and quarrels are breaking out online simply because this person is making these posts. This is not God’s way to handle conflict. Jesus clearly lays out the way in Matthew 18 starting in verse 15 and going until verse 20. Verse 15 starts off with… "If another believer sins against you, go PRIVATELY and point out the offense.” When we post things online about folks, that’s FAR from private. If we start gossip or tell the truth to someone not involved, they pick up the offense when they shouldn't.
Without fuel, a fire will go out. It’s the same with gossip and fighting. People are getting hurt by these posts & comments. Even some of my friends. I pray that the person behind it all will reconsider their methods and stop their posts. And I pray that those participating in it will stop. We all should stop and think before we post. Ya know?
