Proverbs 10:11 & 19
Today’s verses both have to do with our words. My NLT Bible has, “words of the Godly” in verse 11. Some people might not feel good about being called Godly, so let me break it down. Godly does NOT mean we have arrived and we are like super Christians. It simply means people putting God first in their lives & living His ways. Encouraging words change people’s lives! Period. Words can build someone up or tear them down. We should be builders.
Worldly people who aren’t living for Jesus CAN have violent intentions. But it doesn’t mean they ALWAYS do. I know some people who aren’t saved, and they are good people. Some people are very selfish and only concerned with themselves. They CAN tear down with their words, decide to harm, and use their words to hurt us. (But, gosh, can’t Christians do the same?) Good thing is, we can stay on guard, put on our armor, & stay prayed up!
Verse 19 is true but kind of funny. I tend to talk too much. ESPECIALLY if I’m nervous. Ultimately, the truth of this verse is, sin comes through a thought, then we say it, then we do it. Be careful how much you talk about sinful things. That can lead you on the wrong path.
