Matthew 6:33-34
Starting at verse 19, my Bible is titled, “Teaching about Money & Possessions “. This is Jesus teaching. Again today, I am somewhat interchanging worry and anxiety as they tend to go together. Jesus says not to worry 4 times just in verses 19-34. That means He is pretty serious about it.
What does seeking the Kingdom first and living righteously look like? I think it’s giving God the first of your day. Spend time with Him in prayer & Bible reading. (And writing Scripture with us, of course.) Apply the principles to your life and live like Jesus wants you to. This means not following the ways of the world. It means living a life that honors God and reaches people for Him. When we do that and FULLY depend on Him, there is no room for anxiety or worry.
Our every day lives can be predictable, but let’s be honest, we don't know exactly what will happen each day. It’s kind of like the weather. They can predict the temperatures or the rain possibilities, but ultimately you just have to wait and see what happens. If we focus on what we DO have and what God IS doing, then we don’t leave space for worry or anxiety to creep in. Our other way to combat anxiety is prayer! We can turn those anxious thoughts into prayer and give them to God. That REALLY helps me!
