Matthew 5:7

Today's verse is a part of Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. It’s also a part of what people call The Beatitudes. The Beatitudes include 9 statements from Jesus about how to live as a Christ follower on earth. They all begin with “God blesses those who”. To me, they are kinda like the IF/THEN promises I talk about.

Verse 7 is about mercy. If we show mercy to others, THEN God will show mercy to us. (He DOES show us mercy anyway, but this is a way of life He wants us to live.) As I said yesterday, we must show mercy towards others, because God showed mercy towards us. It’s a Christ like way of living on earth.
