Mark 5:30-34

Our verses today are the later part of the woman with the issue of blood. God designed female bodies to have a monthly cycle because we can ovulate and get pregnant. That should only be at the longest, 7 days, once during the month. This poor woman had been bleeding constantly for 12 years!

In our modern culture, we can’t tell if a woman is struggling with bleeding. Thankfully, we have products and such that she did not have. In their culture, blood from a person was BAD. She was culturally shunned for being “unclean”. (Not to mention she couldn't get pregnant if she wanted to either.)

This healing took place while Jesus was en route to Jairus’s house to heal his daughter. So, it was an interruption that delayed Jesus. Jairus was probably freaking out and wishing this woman would have never touched Jesus’s robe. (If you keep reading, Jairus’s daughter was actually pronounced dead while Jesus was talking to this woman. No worries though, He brought her back to life.)

Jesus was intentional on talking to this woman because her faith had healed her. He could have kept walking and let that be just something between Him and her. He chose to spend a few minutes and use her as an example that He could heal without Him ever touching someone. AND, that having faith He CAN heal is a great thing!
