Mark 5:18-19

The man in our verses that was healed from demonic possession is the man who was living in the tombs. Chains couldn’t hold him. He cut himself. It was a terrible situation. Jesus got out of a boat right at his location. The demons in him recognized who Jesus was. They asked to be not sent out to a distant place. Jesus let them go into 2,000 pigs and then the pigs drown. It’s such an odd story.

After all he lived through, you can see how appreciative the man was. He wanted to follow Jesus because he was feee and had a new chance at life. Jesus knew 2 things: he had been away from his family long enough and this miracle would help more people believe in Him. Jesus used the word merciful to describe the LORD’s healing. Because of God’s mercy, this man had a chance at a normal life!
