Luke 1:49-50

Our verses today are lyrics from a song Mary, Jesus's mother sang. The angel encountered her and reported that God chose her to be the mother of the Messiah. A few days later, she went to visit her cousin Elizabeth in Judea. Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah were experiencing their own miracle pregnancy too. She was pregnant with John the Baptist.

John jumped in his mother's womb when Mary told Elizabeth everything. Then Elizabeth said, “You are blessed because you believed that the LORD would do what He said.” (Luke 1:45)

Mary responded to that with a song of praise, which starts at verse 46. I just grabbed these 2 verses for us to write and discuss. Mary was very humbled to be given such a task as carrying, delivering, and raising Jesus Christ. The Mighty One (God) is holy and He has done great things. He also shows mercy to ALL who fear Him. Remember, this fear means reverence. You cannot be close to or know someone you actually live in fear of. God is someone to be in awe over. He loves us so much!
