Luke 4:17-20
I should have added verse 21 to today. Please read it. I know I mentioned these verses yesterday and quoted verse 21, but it’s worth discussing more. Jesus had been all over Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. He taught regularly in the synagogue.
When He went back home to Nazareth, He just went to the synagogue as He had been. I’m not sure, based on just these verses, if He ASKED for the scroll of Isaiah or if it was just divine intervention and handed to Him. Either way, I think it’s a great way to announce who you really are and what you came to earth to do.
God sent Jesus to be the ultimate sacrifice. The once and for all, sacrifice. With that salvation, comes freedom and healing. In today's verses, He basically says it twice- captives released and oppressed set free. Yes, in this world we have troubles. But we should not allow anything to enslave us, ESPECIALLY sin!
