Luke 23:42-43

We definitely need some context today, I didn't want us to write a ton of verses. Our verses are when Jesus and the 2 thieves were on their crosses. One was mocking Jesus and telling Him to prove that He was the Messiah by saving Himself and the 2 of them.

Remember, Jesus had not broken ANY laws. He did NOTHING to warrant arrest, much less death on a cross. The criminal who spoke in verse 42 rebuked the mocker, then said our verse. He knew that Jesus didn’t deserve to die but they both did. My personal opinion isn’t that he was asking to go. I think he was just hoping Jesus would remember him.

Jesus telling the criminal that he would be in paradise that day with Him says a lot. First, I believe our spirit immediately goes to Heaven when we die because of Jesus's words. Second, Heaven will be paradise for us. Third, Jesus went to Heaven when He died on the cross. (I think He went somewhere else too, but for now, we are talking about Heaven.) Have these verses ever reminded you of these things?
