Luke 12:6-7

Jesus is speaking to His disciples today in our verses. A crowd of thousands of people had gathered with a few Pharisees trying to sneak in. He warns them that the time was coming when everything would be revealed. Then He says, “don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body.” (Verse 4) People killing Christians is terrible, but we shouldn't worry over death. As Christians, when we die, we go to Heaven to be with the LORD.

Reading verses 1-7 seem like they don’t go together, but they do. I feel like Jesus was warning us about anxiety over death. It is a real thing. Sometimes it’s demonic. Like an irrational fear of a loved one dying on their daily drive to work, every day. That’s not normal. Some people fear dying in general or being murdered by someone. Jesus is trying to show us how valuable our lives are to Him & God.

Besides death, I think this is about provision. 5 sparrows lives are only worth two cooper coins- but God takes care of them. We are so important to Him that the hairs on our head are numbered! Anxiety over things we need does not help us. God knows our needs & He provides for us! We may not have everything we WANT, but I guarantee you, we have what we NEED.

Never let the enemy or your own negative thoughts tell you that you aren't important to God. You are! I promise!
